Crazy Purchase

I recently purchased this on ebay. Someone just had it for decoration in their kitchen. It hasn’t been used, but it is vintage. Anyway: I’m going to crush my pomegranates with this. It has a tiny cup under the extractor but I’ve decided to clean the base really well and sit it in a large baking pan. I’ll just let the juice run out of the cup into the pan or tip it out. Whichever ends up easier. Hopefully, the pomegranates fit in this citrus juicer. I am so over trying to mess with the arils. I’m just going to end up making juice anyway. Might as well start out with it! I figure I’ll tent this with cling wrap and keep the splattering to a minimum. Now I just need to wait on the pomegranates!

See you out in the garden for fresh pomegranates!

  1. That is rad! I am not so keen on kitchen appliances, and I prefer to keep my kitchen as minimalistic and simple as possible, but pomegranates do not afford many options for their use.

    1. They are messy, stain everything and tedious to peel. I wonder, after thousands of years, why this fruit was not bred to be easy to extract the arils? I’ve seen people slice into them fairly quickly and get all of the arils out, but then you still usually use it for juice. I’m all about squashing the suckers now!
