A Perfect Christmas

Colorado Christmas. My mom and my husband’s family are in Colorado. Mom’s cabin is Christmas-y all year long, but it’s especially enjoyable during the holiday season.

Fire in the fireplace.
Relaxing on the sofa.
The big pond is frozen.
Ducks and chickens lay through winter with fresh greens and vegetables.
Mackerel sky means that the weather is changing.
Feeding the chickens.
Out driving around just for fun. It was cold enough we weren’t out extra long.
From the pond to the cabin.

I had a great time being around my mom. My husband and kids stayed up at his mom’s house, so it was kind of a break for me. We laughed and giggled, as I was hanging out with my mom for a couple extra days. It was nice.

My husband’s mom is undergoing chemotherapy at 88 for stage 3 hodgekins lymphoma. They are expecting a complete cure, which is unusual in the field of cancer. So we’re grateful that what she has is so treatable, although it’s been really rough on her so far.

We’ve had a rough year. My stepmom is at the end of her battle with frontal lobe dementia. I don’t think 2025 is going to be a very good year, for several reasons. But we’ll try to appreciate whatever good we get.

My eldest son is going to college this fall. It’s exciting to see where he’s accepted and watch him walk off into manhood.

Amen.

No matter where you are at this new year: I hope only blessings follow you into 2025. There are always things that are unique and special, no matter what other events are going on. We are so very lucky to have spent this season with our family.

Celebrate all good things that will come with this new year!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
